Be part of the excitement: Volunteer for the Lake Hopatcong Block Party!
LANDING, N.J. (May 6, 2024) - The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is calling for volunteers to support the Lake Hopatcong Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hopatcong State Park, 260 Lakeside Blvd., Landing, N.J.
The annual lakeside extravaganza brings together visitors, businesses, non-profit organizations, community groups, crafters, and food vendors to celebrate Lake Hopatcong and kick off the summer season.
"Community support fuels the success of the Lake Hopatcong Block Party each year,” said Lee Moreau, co-planner of the Block Party. “We're calling on our neighbors to join us in making this year's event unforgettable by volunteering and being a part of the excitement."
The event organizers aim to accommodate 4,000 guests and host 200 vendors, making it one of the lake region's most ambitious community-building endeavors.
"Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, and give back to the community,” said Judy Caruso, volunteer coordinator for the Block Party. “We have a variety of tasks available to suit everyone's interests and abilities."
Volunteers will be scheduled into four-hour shifts, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the day of the Block Party. Assistance is also needed for setup on the day before the event. Tasks include helping with parking, assisting vendors, welcoming guests, setting up tables, chairs, and tents, and other important efforts.
"This event offers an ideal chance for students, clubs, companies, and others to achieve their community service goals,” said Caitlin Doran, development director at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation. “Where else can you give back while enjoying a day lakeside at Hopatcong State Park?"
Interested individuals are asked to register at lakehopatcongfoundation.org/blockparty and attend an on-site training session Thursday evening, May 16, where they can also pick up a free volunteer T-shirt.
The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting the lake environment and enhancing the lake experience by bringing together public and private resources to encourage a culture of sustainability and stewardship on and around New Jersey’s largest lake, for this and future generations.
