“The Enchanted Library” Gala on November 13

Honors Superlative Community Leaders

Some people do good.  And then there are some that do great.  Spectacularly, even.

The Roxbury Library Foundation will honor three spectacular individuals whose impact on the Roxbury community is felt by thousands at “The Enchanted Library” Gala on Wednesday, November 13 from 6-9pm at The Meadow Wood in Randolph.

Scott Fullerton, owner of Fullerton Grounds Maintenance, will receive the inaugural Ron DeFilippis Community Service Award, named for the Roxbury Library Foundation’s founding treasurer who passed earlier this year.  This award celebrates those who embody compassion, generosity and unwavering dedication actively working to improve our community and inspiring others along the way.

Fullerton’s devotion to Roxbury is evident in his countless contributions to service organizations, including outdoor study spaces at Franklin School, the installation of the Roxbury High School baseball dugout, the restoration of the historic King House, plus countless support of youth teams and clubs, including Eagle Scout projects.

The Foundation is also honored to announce that Stu and Shirley Bauer, currently the president and nominating chair, respectively, of the Friends of the Roxbury Township Public Library, will be recognized for their unwavering dedication and commitment to our library.

Stu Bauer is the current president of the Friends of the Roxbury Library, and has also held volunteer leadership positions with Troop 159 of the Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, Roxbury’s Imagination Station, NourishNJ, and the NJ Woodturners. Shirley Bauer is a past president and board member of the Roxbury Board of Education, and has served in a variety of volunteer roles for Roxbury Social Services, NourishNJ, Habitat for Humanity, Temple Shalom and Girl Scouts.  Their current dedication and impact on the Friends of the Roxbury Library is evident in the increases in Friends’ membership and the growth of the book sales, which allows for more youth and adult programming at Roxbury Library.

“Roxbury and the Library are better because of the hard work and dedication of Scott Fullerton and Stu and Shirley Bauer. They inspire all of us to give back to our community,” said Bob DeFillippo, president of the Roxbury Library Foundation. “We are honored and humbled to single out Scott, Stu and Shirley at this year’s ‘The Enchanted Library’ Gala.”

‘The Enchanted Library’ mood-board is a mash-up of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ ballroom elegance and an old world library.

“Get ready to be surprised, and yes, even enchanted, by our creativity,” said Steve Alford,  Roxbury Library Foundation’s Vice President and Chair of the organization's fourth annual Gala.

The Gala, hosted at a notably larger venue than the past, will transport guests to ‘The Enchanted Library’, offering an elegant evening of fine-dining, a celebration of revered community leaders, and a deep appreciation for Roxbury Public Library’s role in our beloved Roxbury.  In addition, it’ll highlight how the library needs everyone’s financial support to achieve its vision of an expanded, renovated library.

Businesses and individuals are invited to support the gala via sponsorship, with levels ranging from $10,000 to $1,000; sponsors receive a variety of benefits, including tickets to the event.  Ads in the program journal can promote businesses or congratulate honorees, and range from $500 to $200.  And tickets are on sale for $125.  More information is available at roxburylibrary.org/foundation.

The Roxbury Library Foundation was established in 2021 to focus on raising community support and funds to provide Roxbury with a modern and vibrant Library facility. Our strategy is simple –to be shovel-ready to take advantage of future government construction grant programs. It is a very big task that will take many years. It is a marathon, not a sprint. The Foundation's annual Gala is our largest and primary fundraising event, and we are grateful to all of our sponsors and supporters who are helping us to reach our goals. We invite others to join us at the Gala and as a Library Foundation sponsor.
