ROXBURY, NJ, August 24, 2022— Morris Habitat for Humanity and Roxbury High School celebrated the completion of a new 3-bedroom, single family home in Landing today, with a home dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Senait Tesfaye, her husband Samuel Tadese and their three children will move into the modular home, built by 35 students from Roxbury High School’s Structural Design and Fabrication program, in October. The project is the first of its kind in New Jersey.
“This is a time of celebration, a time of thanksgiving and a time for a new start,” said Morris Habitat for Humanity Chief Executive Officer Blair Schleicher Wilson in her opening remarks.
The two-year project, said Schleicher Wilson, was made possible thanks to the vision and dedication of many, including dozens of local businesses, skilled workers and volunteers who partnered with Morris Habitat to bring the project to completion.
Special recognition was given to teacher Frank Caccavale, whose work securing sponsorships and coordinating students with tradesmen was key to the success of the program and the project, she said.
The Tesfaye-Tadese family was one of 18 families selected to participate in a lottery drawing for the Edith Road home. “You are the best family to be selected for this home,” said Loretta Rivers, director of family services for Morris Habitat for Humanity as she introduced the Tadese to the crowd.
“We are humble and grateful to call this beautiful house our home,” said Tadese.
