Morris County’s leading law enforcement agencies and municipal police departments will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a semi-annual event coordinated nationally by the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in which law enforcement agencies at the state, county, and municipal levels work together to encourage the public to anonymously dispose of unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Sheriff James M. Gannon, Hanover Township Police Chief Michael Loock, Morris Plains Police Chief Mike Koroski, Morris Township Police Chief Robert Shearer, and Randolph Township Police Chief Will Harzula announced that their agencies will partner in this effort to reduce the abuse and misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.

At the conclusion of the event, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Office will collect and safely destroy the discarded prescription drugs in a non-hazardous manner.

Satellite collection sites will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following Morris County locations:

  • ACME Supermarket, 690 Millbrook Ave., Randolph, N.J.

  • ShopRite of Greater Morristown, 178 East Hanover Ave., Cedar Knolls, N.J.

  • Stop & Shop, 245 Littleton Road/Route 202, Morris Plains, N.J.

  • Wegmans, 34 Sylvan Way, Hanover, N.J.

If you are unable to drop off your medications at these locations, you can find other permanent drop box locations at dea.gov/takebackday.
