Lane closures on I-80 eastbound for concrete bridge deck repairs in Wharton, Morris County

I-80 eastbound lane and ramp closures at Exit 34 to Route 15 and Main Street/CR 634 tonight in Wharton, Morris County

At least one lane will be maintained during construction


(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced lane closures on I-80 eastbound for concrete bridge deck repairs in Wharton, Morris County. In addition, the I-80 eastbound Exit 34 ramp to Route 15 and North Main Street/CR 634 is scheduled to be closed tonight to assist with concrete deck repairs.

 

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, September 13, until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, September 14, the right and center lanes on I-80 eastbound are scheduled to be closed on the Bridge over North Main Street/CR 634 (mile post 33.6) and on the Bridge over the Route 15 ramp to I-80 eastbound (mile post 34.2). At least one lane will be maintained overnight. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays when driving through the work zone.


In addition, from 10 p.m. Friday, September 13, to 6 a.m. Saturday, September 14, the I-80 eastbound Exit 34 ramp to Route 15 and North Main Street is scheduled to be closed to assist with the concrete deck repairs. The following detours will be in place:

 

I-80 eastbound Exit 34 to Route 15 detour: 

  • Motorists on I-80 eastbound wishing to take Exit 34 to Route 15 will be directed to continue on I-80 eastbound

  • Take Exit 35/Mount Hope/Dover

  • Stay right on the ramp to turn right onto Mount Hope Avenue/CR 661

  • Turn right onto Mount Pleasant Avenue, back to Route 15

 

I-80 eastbound Exit 34 to North Main Street/CR 634 detour: 

  • Motorists on I-80 eastbound wishing to take Exit 34 to North Main Street/CR 634 will be directed to continue on I-80 eastbound

  • Take Exit 35/Mount Hope/Dover

  • Stay right on the ramp to turn right onto Mount Hope Avenue/CR 661

  • Turn right onto Mount Pleasant Avenue

  • Turn right onto Route 15 northbound

  • Turn left onto East Dewey Avenue, back to North Main Street/CR 634

 

The work is part of a $15 million state-funded maintenance project to repair concrete structures at various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey.
