I-287 northbound all lanes to reopen following emergency drainage repairs in Morris County
Left shoulder remains closed until permanent repairs can be made
(Trenton) – The two left lanes on I-287 northbound are scheduled to reopen before the morning commute tomorrow, Monday, March 24, as temporary emergency drainage repairs are expected to be completed in Parsippany-Troy Hills, Morris County. The left shoulder will remain closed until permanent repairs can be made.
The two left lanes on I-287 northbound near mile post 42.2 past the bridge over Littleton Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills are scheduled to be reopened by tomorrow morning, Monday, March 24. The lanes were closed on Friday afternoon, March 21 after a sinkhole developed in the left shoulder due to a collapsed drainage pipe. Crews worked around the clock to make temporary repairs to the drainage system to reopen all lanes before the Monday morning rush hour.
During the emergency construction, it became clear more extensive work, including the installation of approximately 80-feet of concrete drainage pipe, is required to make a permanent repair. After completing the temporary repairs, the roadway was repaved today, and construction barrier was placed along the left shoulder to keep it closed until the permanent repair can be completed. A schedule for when the permanent repair will be done has not yet been determined.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
