Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Event Seeking Sponsors and Volunteers for May

RANDOLPH, N.J., April 1, 2025—Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity (GMM Habitat), a major builder and leading advocate for affordable housing in New Jersey, is seeking sponsors and women volunteers in May to build homes for low- to moderate-income families in Middlesex and Morris Counties.

The GMM Women Build Event is a grassroots effort led by women and supportive men to sponsor, volunteer and construct homes for families in need. This year’s month-long event will feature a special celebration in Perth Amboy on May 9. The unique opportunity highlights the ways that GMM Habitat empowers women to help build strength, stability and self-reliance for families in need.

“Women, particularly those who are single, are a vulnerable population when it comes to affordable housing,” said Liz DeCoursey, GMM Habitat CEO. “We’ll be engaging business leaders and women of all skill levels to join their colleagues, friends and neighbors to help provide women with a hand up to affordable housing.”

For the second year, GMM Habitat is teaming up with Women Build Ambassador Stacey Moore to help expand the event to include more volunteers and local businesses. Moore, a relationship manager with Provident Bank, has volunteered with Women Build for three years and has installed insulation, cut floor molding, and done exterior clean up at home build sites.

GMM Habitat is also launching a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign for volunteers seeking donations in support of their Women Build efforts.

No previous construction experience is required. All women and supportive men 18 years and older are welcome to participate. Two home build sites are available for volunteers in  Perth Amboy and Rockaway, N.J.
