Friends of the Roxbury Public Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Roxbury Public Library host pop-up book sale

Sale: Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

And during regular library hours through March 9

Just in time for Read Across America on Saturday, March 1, the Friends of the Roxbury Public Library invite you to support the library by purchasing a few gently used books from Saturday, March 1 through Sunday, March 9.

This sale will focus on books and DVDs for youth and teens -- from board books to Young Adult, as well as all-age cookbooks, gardening books, and $1 for all older James Patterson books.

“You can’t beat our prices! As always, our community is so generous with book donations. We need to clear out the old books and make room for new ones,” said Stu Bauer, President of the Friends of the Library.  “The Friends of the Library appreciate everyone’s support in purchasing these gently used materials so we can fund all the wonderful youth and adult programs the Library hosts all year long.”

The Read Across America Book Sale will kick off on Saturday, March 1 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the Library’s Read Across America celebration and will run the whole week through Sunday, March 9.  During the Library’s Read Across America event on Saturday, March 1 from 11:00AM - 12:30PM, guest readers including Roxbury Township Councilwoman Jaki Albrecht, Roxbury Police Chief Mathew Holland, Jefferson Elementary School Librarian Katey Mc Auliffe will read to kids of all ages. Roxbury Township Mayor Shawn Potillo will present the Read Across America proclamation.

“Your kids, grandkids, neighbors’ kids, all kids should have easy access to books and encouragement to read. This book sale is the most reasonable way to stock up on great gifts or refresh your favorite young person’s stack of books,” noted Bauer.  “You’d be surprised at how many of our gently used books and DVDs are very recent and in excellent condition, suitable for gifting.”

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Roxbury Public Library, which funds the Library’s substantial program offerings all year long.

This pop-up sale featuring books and dvd for youth and teens will be in addition to the newly-renovated, ongoing book sale set up near the entrance to the children’s room.

“Funds from the sale support the youth and adult programming our library is known for,” said Bauer. “In addition, last year the Friends added a Coffee Bar in the library’s lobby, so patrons can enjoy a tasty hot beverage while combing the stacks or studying or working at a table.  We’re making our library as comfortable as possible for all.”

Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted.  Park in the back lot or on Main St.

“The Friends Book Sale is an ongoing gift to our Library and community,” said Library Director Cassie Collucci.  “Please come out to support their book sale and make a lot of young people in your life very happy.”
