The Board of Trustees of the Roxbury Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Cassandra “Cassie” Collucci as the new Library Director.

After a thorough recruitment process led by Library Crossroads LLC, Collucci was selected by the Trustee’s Personnel Committee and will begin on October 21, 2024.

I am honored and thrilled to be appointed as director and join the Roxbury Library team. I've always been so impressed with the innovative ideas and strong community connection at the Roxbury Library,” said Collucci, who currently serves as Customer Experience Manager of the Somerset County Library System and received her Masters of Library and Information Science in 2007 from Rutgers University.

In her role, Collucci will lead the library in identifying new and exciting ways to serve the community, advance plans to redesign the library’s physical space, and build upon the success of engaging the staff, the board, the township, the Friends of the Roxbury Library and the Roxbury Library Foundation.

“I am eager to meet with Roxbury residents to learn about their experiences at the Library and also to continue to find ways for the Library to delight the community," noted Collucci.  “I'd also like to express my gratitude to the Library Board of Trustees and the Library staff for their hard work, leadership, and commitment to serving the Roxbury community during the transition.”

Since 2008, Collucci has worked for the Somerset County Library System, a county-wide library network with 11 branches, two reading stations and more than 250 employees. During the past eight years she served in managerials roles improving the customer experience and system training, and in years prior held branch positions as Youth Services Supervisor, Collection Development Librarian, Adult Services Librarian and Teen Librarian.  Collucci offered staff development presentations at the 2023 American Library Association and the 2022 Public Library Association Conferences and is the current co-chair of the New Jersey Library Association Leadership and Education Committee.  A lifelong student herself, she will soon chair the American Library Association’s Learning Round Table.

Library Trustee President Aldo Palma shared his enthusiasm for Collucci’s potential for Roxbury.

“We are thrilled that Cassie will be leading our vibrant library community,” said Palma. “Roxbury Library already benefits from strong partnerships with local organizations and the township, and we look forward to Cassie’s leading us to new directions and heights.”

Former Director Radwa Ali currently serves as Director of Montclair Public Library.  Ali will officially pass a figurative baton to Collucci at the Roxbury Library Foundation’s The Enchanted Library gala on Wednesday, November 13 at the Meadow Wood in Randolph.  For information about the gala, go to roxburylibrary.org/foundation.
