Morris Arts’ “Blackwell Street” Juried Student Exhibit on Display
Atrium Gallery Showcases Morris County High School Artists Through April 29
The 33rd Annual Blackwell Street Juried Student Exhibit is now on display inside the Morris County Administration and Records Building in Morristown, showcasing the artistic talents of high school students from across Morris County.
Organized by Morris Arts, the exhibition is located in the Atrium Gallery, spanning four floors of the building and featuring 280 works selected from more than 750 submissions. The pieces represent students from Boonton, Butler, Chatham, Delbarton, Dover, Hanover Park, Jefferson Township, Madison, Montville Township, Morris Hills, Mount Olive, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, Parsippany Hills, Randolph, Roxbury, West Morris Mendham and Villa Walsh Academy.

What began in 1988 with just 90 pieces of art has evolved into a major annual celebration of youth creativity. The show took a five-year hiatus before returning in 2023. The exhibit remains unique for its inclusive format, welcoming submissions from public, private, parochial and home-schooled high school students throughout the county.
There are no limits to the number of pieces a school may submit, and each entry is carefully reviewed by a jury of professional artists. This year’s show was curated by Dave Gruol and Peggy Dressel of the Blackwell Street Center for the Arts.
An opening reception held April 3 drew a large and enthusiastic crowd of students, families, educators and community members to the Atrium Gallery, which is managed by Morris Arts and presents rotating exhibitions throughout the year on the building’s second through fifth floors.
The Blackwell Street Juried Student Exhibition will remain on display through April 29, 2025. The Atrium Gallery is free and open to the public during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The building is closed on weekends.
