Heather Shirley

Returning to the United States after living as an ex-pat on several continents, Heather found her way to New Jersey, and discovering a beloved life on Bertrand Island. She began contributing to Lake Hopatcong News as the author of the “Words of a Feather” column, sharing her observations of lake wildlife. When an amalgamation of crazy circumstances provided the opportunity to retire decades ahead of schedule, however, Heather traded fresh for salt water and moved from Lake Hopatcong to south Florida. Now enjoying life as a full time outdoors and wildlife enthusiast, Heather continues to share natural history observations from around the world. The special community of Lake Hopatcong remains dear to her heart and she visits as often as she can.
