Hopatcong Woman’s Club Thanks the Community
Thanks to the Hopatcong and surrounding communities for their support of our food collection efforts during the COVID pandemic. The main collection area in the Hopatcong Post Office continues to collect non-perishable food items to assist those in need right in our own backyard. Please continue to support this worthy cause by stopping by with items for our bin! (no glass please)
Our efforts most recently have benefitted Project Self-Sufficiency. www.projectselfsufficiency.org and West Side Methodist Church http://www.hopatcongwestsideumc.org/
As part of our State Project, Operation Chillout, club members and others have donated baseball caps, T-shirts and bottled water for veterans. Details on how you can contribute to our efforts are below.
Ways you can help:
Whether you choose to assist by visiting the Operation Chillout site online, making notecards to be included with donations, or writing a check, we ask that you please inform chairperson Toby Nelson of your donation so that she can include it in our tallies for the Hopatcong area by e-mailing: HWCOperationChillout@gmail.com
Due to COVID-19, restrictions require that the 2020 summer campaign will be entirely online – like a gift registry. www.operationchillout.org will take you to a registry site, where you can choose to donate two baseball caps for $10, two T-shirts for $10, or three cases of water for $10. The donations will go to all Homeless including the Homeless Veterans. If doing online, please also indicate Hopatcong Woman’s Club when prompted for Business Name.
If you are a creative type, you may like this one. Little Note Cards that will accompany the items on the gift registry, with expressions like “Thinking of You,” are appreciated. They MUST be small, the size of a business card, and no envelopes! They will not only go to Homeless Veterans but all homeless in need. PLEASE make them very generic, yet creative. Maybe red, white and blue or another patriotic theme. No religious comments of any kind. These cards can be mailed to Operation Chillout, P.O. Box 353, Long Valley, NJ 07853, or you can call Col. Ted Sattur for pick up. 973-868-0453.
If you’d prefer you can send a check for your donation made out to, and addressed to, the Hopatcong Woman’s Club, PO Box 130, Hopatcong, NJ. Please mark the check for Operation Chillout.
Please consider making a donation for the homeless during these very difficult times. All donations are tax deductible.
Our general membership meetings will be held via phone conference until further notice, but we can’t wait to see familiar faces, as well as new ones, once we are cleared to gather again. We are scheduling a full array of activities for the fall and 2021.
If you would like more information on helping our club with donations or if you would like to become a member, please contact Member Chairperson Lisa Hirschfeld. She can be reached at 973-479-9228 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
