Jefferson’s egg hunt, hosted by the township recreation department, was held in the middle school gymnasium. Close to 500 kids from toddlers up to nine-year-olds had a chance to pick through hundreds of eggs scattered around the gym floor, all with a couple of pieces of candy inside, only a rare few held a note indicating a special prize. All participants had a chance to get a photo with the Easter Bunny and each child went home with a medium-sized chocolate bunny.
For the fourth straight year Mount Arlington held its hunt on the lawn at Memorial Park but according to event coordinator Kathy Appleby, this was the first year the kids picked up eggs off snow. About 80 to 100 kids participated in four age groups from toddlers to third-graders. Each age group had the chance to win a special prize by finding one of three golden eggs scattered among the hundreds of colorful eggs on the lawn. Prizes included sand toys, Dr. Seuss books, DVD’s and AMC movie tickets.
