The Knee Deep Club hosted its annual Junior Derby and Handicapped Outing on Saturday, bringing dozens of young and disabled anglers to Memorial Park in Mt. Arlington.
Forty people entered the day’s events, with 61 fish weighed in, including 39 catfish.
The top anglers were:
1st place-Tom Fernandez, 2.1 LMB- Hopatcong
2nd place- Matthew Baylor, 1.15 cat- Mt. Arlington
3rd place- Nicholas Healy, 1.14 cat-Vernon
4th place- Austin Cole, 1.2 cat-Mt. Arlington
5th place- Daniel McCarthy, 1.2 cat- Hopatcong
6th place- Alex Hansen, 1.1 cat- Roxbury
7th place- Jimmy Bonnell, 1 lb. cat- Mt. Arlington
8th place- Kaitlyn Dempsey, 1 lb. cat, Landing
The annual June derby for youth has been a Knee Deep Club institution for decades, and the Handicapped Outing started in 1975 and is currently funded by the William H. and Sadie R. Cutter Trust Fund and the Cheeseborough-Summit Home for Children.
